Smoked Salmon Appetizer Recipe

Since requesting recipes and Bell Buoy memories from our customers, we have enjoyed reading the stories and testing some of the recipes. In this blog we are sharing a Smoked Salmon Appetizer recipe from Carol of Seaside, who has been a customer of Bell Buoy for many years. Our staff tested this recipe and gave it rave reviews. It checks all the boxes, tasty, simple, and impressive!

Salmon Log Appetizer Recipe

2 cups smoked or canned salmon

8 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 tablespoon lemon juice

2 teaspoons grated onion

1 teaspoon cream style horseradish (to taste)

If using unsmoked salmon, add 1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke


  1. Combine all ingredients and mix well.

  2. Shape into desired form (see note below).

  3. Chill throughly.

  4. Can be rolled in chopped nuts or chopped parsley.

  5. Serve with crackers.

Note: To shape, line a bowl with plastic wrap, pack the salmon and cover with the edges of plastic wrap before chilling. To serve, open the plastic wrap, tun the bowl upside down on serving tray, and remove plastic wrap. This will give a nice round shape to the salmon log.
